LaVelle Johnston

LaVelle Johnston is a former high school English Literature teacher, as well as a Biola University adjunct English professor. She is dual credentialed in Social Science and English. She earned her Masters of Education degree from National University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from Westmont College. Previous to teaching, LaVelle worked in the advertising industry as an account manager selling ad space for a boating publication and prior to that, she worked for advertising agencies.

LaVelle has been married for 38 years and has three adult children, two son-in-laws, a grandson, and another on the way. While raising her family, LaVelle was a K-12 substitute teacher and served on the PTA board and chaired or assisted on virtually every event, program, and fundraiser available at her children’s elementary school. She was a room parent several times, and she chaired and sold ad space for the school directory for multiple years. LaVelle and her family have attended Mariners Church for over three decades. She and her husband are certified PADI Scuba divers and enjoy tropical vacations.
